Transcendent Dawn - Chapter 59

Once the necromancer was dead, the skeletons instantly lost their driving force, like marionettes whose wires and strings were cut.
Thulhu and Roald captured several members of the group who tried to escape.
The fight soon ended.
After a short while, Jack walked over to them, grief on his face.
“That necromancer blew himself up in the end with an explosive magic circle. Two of our good lads are gone…”
He paused a bit before saying again, “We’ve searched the place, but we didn’t find your friend.
“According to the prisoners, your friend was sent somewhere else, because there was some slight misfortune which lingered around him…”
…
Misfortune?
Roald and Roald exchanged looks.
They thought that the church had purified Shawn, but it turned out there was still a tiny amount of misfortune left. In the eyes of those cult followers, however, this wasn’t a bad thing at all. Instead, Shawn was like a torch to them in the darkness.
“I see.”
There was no expression on Roald’s face. He turned around and left with Thulhu.
It was only when they walked out of the warehouse zone that Roald said to Thulhu slowly, “I need to go back to Dagusta.”
Black Death was his problem, and he should be the one to solve it!
He also didn’t want to put his younger brother in danger.
Thulhu’s lips moved slightly, but no voice came out.
He couldn’t ask Roald to take him along; he was still a burden.
A rank one spirit medium was nothing.
“Then…”
Thulhu took a deep breath and said, “I’ll set off for Posi Harbor to find out how to reach the next stage.”
“Smart choice. I wish you all the best!”
Roald turned around and gave Thulhu a big hug.
Then he simply walked away, his figure disappearing into the darkness.
That was it?!
Thulhu was quite speechless. Although he knew that Roald wasn’t good at expressing his feelings, that farewell was too simple.
What about the shop? What about those things they had in the abandoned factory?
Basically, Roald left Thulhu an awful mess to clean up and didn’t give him a chance to say no.
…
In the next few days, Thulhu was extremely busy.
First, he had to go to the police station to get the blockade around their shop taken down.
Although No. 11 Union Bureau had also sent the police station a message, Thulhu still had to follow procedure.
Thulhu was about to sell this shop, but on second thought, he decided to keep this property.
Thus, Thulhu finally just closed the shop in hopes that the value of the property might increase.
Thulhu was quite confident that it would, since the union’s economy was growing fast.
Roald had taken away most of the valuable things in the factory, and had only left Thulhu a dagger. According to Roald, this dagger was specially designed to kill demonic creatures.
It was true that Thulhu liked Roald’s revolver very much, but he didn’t dare carry a gun around when he had to go through security checks.
Thulhu hoped that Roald would be able to save Shawn. There was nothing much he could do for Shawn right now.
Thulhu also counted his money. In total, he now had twenty-nine gold dragons, five silver eagles, and a full handful of coppers.
He had never been so rich!
Thulhu told himself that this would be his post-graduation trip.
Feeling a little excited, he bought a train ticket to Posi Harbor.
…
The steam train shrieked.
Puffs of white smoke rose up from the locomotive.
The wheels started moving forward, faster and faster. The steam train was leaving the station.
Inside the train, the separate wooden compartments were actually quite spacious.
Thulhu was wearing a white shirt and black pants, and had left the top two buttons of his shirt unbuttoned to look more casual. He only had one suitcase. After finding his seat, Thulhu picked up a magazine and pretended to read it.
In fact, what he was reading was his attributes panel:
——————————————
Name: [Thulhu Botley]
Occupation: [Spirit Medium] (rank one)
Class: [1]
Title: [none]
Strength: [1.6]; Agility: [1.3]; Constitution: [1.2]; Spirit: [2.6]
Spiritual Perception: [2.6]
Skill: [Corpse Princess LV1]; [Maga Fighting LV5]; [Soul Out of Body LV1]; [Spirit Crush LV2]; [Spirit Thrust LV1]
Passive: [Common Heber LV3]; [Basic Physics LV4]; [Demon Hunting LV4]; [Ancient Heber LV2]; [Old Ram LV1]
XP: [60]
——————————————
The 60XP was from Thulhu defeating and catching the cult followers in the warehouse.
However, 60XP wasn’t enough to upgrade any of the skills he had.
He thought that it would be the most cost-effective to upgrade his combat skills. However, the XP required had become too high. Thulhu finally realized that there was no way for an ordinary person to become an extraordinary just by training, no matter how hard they tried.
As for the three exclusive [Spirit Medium] skills, they consumed even more XP.
Then what about the passive skills?
To upgrade the passive skills, apart from needing enough XP, other requirements still had to be met.
Thulhu had Alannys’s notes, so he could probably upgrade [Old Ram LV2] later.
To upgrade ancient Heber, for example, Thulhu had to first find a book on the language written by an author above rank two.
In fact, all the skills could be upgraded through a great amount of practice; XP just provided Thulhu a shortcut.
Comparatively speaking, using XP to improve the skills was the most cost-effective method.
Thulhu decided to save the 60XP. To upgrade Old Ram, he could read the notes on his own.
He really hoped that he could somehow find a sustainable XP source.
Clang!
At that moment, the door opened. A female passenger walked in with her ticket in hand.
She sat down beside Thulhu and smiled at him.
Thulhu scanned the young lady with his spiritual perception. There was nothing wrong with her.
In fact, it would be really difficult to tell if an extraordinary was hiding their power on purpose.
Even for a spirit medium, telling the difference between an extraordinary and an ordinary person was still very difficult.
Thulhu cast a glance at the other passengers in the compartment. In front of him sat an old couple. The elderly gentleman was taking a nap. Beside Thulhu sat the young lady who had just come in.
They were all ordinary people… well, hopefully…
After confirming that, Thulhu started practicing with his powers.
Besides information on the next stage of the occupation, some prerequisites still had to be met if he wanted to improve his class!
In other words, Thulhu had to first become a qualified spirit medium.
