The Era of Gods - Chapter 38
When class teacher Wu Hai saw that the only hope of his class was about to go down, he couldn’t help but sigh.
Meng Hui was eliminated early, while Yuan Hong and Wan Chuan were eliminated in quick succession one minute ago. At present, Lin Xiao was the one who had persisted the longest, but judging on the huge power gap, a comeback seemed impossible.
However, once he thought about the fact that, of all the ten classes in the whole year, only Yan Renjie and Wan Ying had survived the wave while the others were all wiped out, and that everybody was doing poorly, he felt much better.
On the fourth minute, the Naga’s ability finally came off cooldown. The Naga leader hiding in the lower right corner of the plane raised its spear and shouted. Groups of Naga and Murlocs scattered on the edge of the plane halted at the same time and revealed rage within their eyes. They raised their weapons, turned around, and charged towards the Half-Elves in the center of the plane.
The Half-Elf Archers didn’t care. Like before, they methodically shot the Murlocs and Naga that charged forward.
The scales of the Black-scaled Naga couldn’t resist the Half-Elf’s arrow at all. If they were hit by an arrow, they would be wounded, and if the arrow landed in a vital point, they would die. At present, the surviving Naga were less than half of their original number, while the total number of Murlocs was less than 400.
With only a little bit more than 600 entities left of Naga and Murlocs combined, Wu Hao wasn’t optimistic. He felt that it was too late to fight back.
Coincidently, a ray of golden light flew up at this moment, and he subconsciously turned around and greeted the person with a smile.
Within the semi plane, a group of approximately 70 to 80 Naga and 140ish Greymist Murlocs was charging towards the Half-Elves in a way that seemed suicidal to people watching. With a shower of arrows, seven Naga fell and more than 30 Murlocs were nailed on the ground, convulsing.
The Half-Elves gracefully drew an arrow from behind and were about to nock them on their bows. All of a sudden, the Murlocs who were charging raised their heads and grinned savagely, exposing their white teeth. With a sudden flicker at their bodies, they collided into the Half-Elves at immense speed, leaving a trail of phantom-like after images.
A Half-Elf Warrior, who was feeling a little numb after guarding the forefront, slaughtering for an extended period of time, was shocked. Hurriedly lifting his shield, he felt darkness looming before his eyes. A lump of murky shadow struck him violently. Accompanied by severe pain in his chest, the colossal force made him stagger backward in spite of himself. Many of his fellows fell to the ground.
The sudden alteration in the state of affairs had the Half-Elves behind the Warrior line slightly shaken. They quickly drew their bows and fired at the Murlocs who knocked down their companions.
The Murlocs, feeble after performing the burst attack, were unable to retaliate and were shot and killed.
But before the Half-Elf Warriors could get back to their feet, the Naga who had arrived decisively unleashed Salted Fish Spike. Even larger shadows knocked the Half-Elf Warriors who had just gotten up four to five meters away.
The other Half-Elf Warriors and the Half-Elf Archers behind were taken aback. Flustered, they drew their arrows.
However, at this moment, the Naga and Murlocs scattered at the outer periphery had arrived. Streaks of dark shadows of different sizes flew towards the Half-Elves like arrows leaving the bow. The Elves were knocked to the ground one after another and were left struggling miserably.
The Half-Elf’s combat power was above that of the Havoc Demon. But in terms of defense, they were far worse. The magic enchanting their leather armor was to protect against long-ranged piercing attacks. It provided no additional defense towards melee attacks. Following the wave of burst attacks, they were killed instantly.
The burst attack of Naga and Murlocs that came over startled the Half-Elves, especially since the Naga and Murlocs had been scattered before. In order to clear them up more effectively, the Half-Elves went on to occupy the center of the plane. Now, this had become the mistake that would hasten their deaths. The attacks from all directions rendered them clueless about which direction should they defend against. Their morale crumbled.
Despite being summoned creatures, they were living beings with intelligence. Likewise, there were times they were high on morale and times when they were afraid.
Beyond the semi place, class teacher Wu Hai chattered for a moment with another class teacher and was about to turn around and comfort his student. As soon as his gaze fell on the semi plane, his eyeballs almost fell out.
He rubbed his eyes and quickly flew to the sky above the semi plane and watched the less than 30 Half-Elves being chased by the Naga. With a sense of disbelief, he murmured to himself, “How is this possible? What happened?”
Swiftly extending his finger and tapping the air, a mirror of water appeared and displayed the picture from earlier on. The image quickly went backward to the scene one minute ago.
Half a minute later, he abruptly slapped his thigh, “Outstanding!”
As he watched the recording, the remaining 30 Half-Elves were finally killed by the Naga.
Lin Xiao had survived the sixth wave!
At this moment, there were only about 120 to 130 Black-scaled Naga in the plane, while the Murlocs were reduced to a single-digit number. Passing the next wave would be impossible.
He raised his head, gazed beyond the semi plane, and asked, “Sir, what is my ranking now?”
His class teacher did not appear, but his voice arrived, “Third.”
“Thank you!”
He kinda expected it. A figure shrouded in golden Divine Light slowly emerged. He stretched out his hands, and a sky full of blue starlight showered. The Essence of Seawater began to nourish their wounded bodies as a magnificent voice sounded in the minds of all the Naga and Murlocs that were alive.
“I have seen your might and bravery. Because of you, my glory has been elevated. In the name of the Lord of the Seas, God of the Naga and Murlocs, I bestow upon you, glory!”
Once again, he stretched out this golden finger, made a tap, looked at the more than 2 million points of Worship Value in his profile, and muttered inwardly, “Elevate!”
A total of 1.31 million points of Worship Value was consumed, morphed into a dazzling golden light that spewed out from him, divided itself into 128 golden fog pillars, descended from the sky, accurately fell on every believer who was still alive and injected into them.
In the next second, the injuries of all his living Spawns recovered completely, and their aura was growing at a speed visible to the naked eye.
“Lin Xiao of Tenth Grade, Class Three. You have violated the rules of the examination. According to the regulations, you can no longer continue the challenge. Your current score will be taken as your final score. If you have any objections, please submit an appeal to the school after the test. Thank you for your cooperation.”
A notice came suddenly, but he had expected it. He smiled and closed the window. A gust of colossal force that originated from nowhere bounced him off the semi plane.
With his remaining Spawn, he definitely wouldn’t be able to pass the next wave. He would probably get wiped out instantly.
He had reached the top three. The first and second place were definitely out of his reach, hence, any further persistence would be meaningless. He would be better off making good use of waste materials to elevate his Spawn’s faith.
According to Lin Xiao’s understanding, such a situation was the best time to raise the faith of one’s Spawn.
Although they were just a projection, the true selves of the Naga and Murlocs in his Divine Realm would know everything that happened during the projection.
Surviving a cruel battle until the end and being praised and rewarded by the God of their faith… the spiritual impact this would have on the pious believers was simply unimaginable.
By consuming ten times the normal amount of Worship Value, he forcibly raised all his surviving Spawn by one level. All the Black-scaled Naga were upgraded to level-2 Naga fighters, and all Murlocs were directly upgraded twice into level-2 Murloc Warriors.
