Spoil Him, Heal Him - Chapter 40
No one dared to call out Master Bei’s name directly. Tong Yi was the first. When he heard this name, Chen Mu did not immediately react. He was stunned for a moment before replying, “Master Bei is having lunch with Miss Su.”
Tong Yi was a bit surprised. “A woman?”
Chen Mu nodded.
“Who else?”
“Nobody.”
Tong Yi was speechless. Wasn’t there usually a whole table of people when one attended social gatherings?
After thinking for a bit, Tong Yi asked again, “Are they discussing business?”
Chen Mu shook his head. “No, it’s just a casual lunch.”
Tong Yi fell silent. A simple meal with a woman without business discussions was called a date. Lu Zhanbei clearly said it was a social gathering. Should she not have followed him?
Chen Mu saw Tong Yi standing still and asked her, “Miss Tong, aren’t you going into the washroom?”
“No, I pulled you aside to find out more details about this social gathering.”
Chen Mu was rendered speechless. He couldn’t believe she was so direct with her words.
“What’s the relationship between Lu Zhanbei and this Miss Su that you mentioned just now?” Tong Yi continued to ask. Since she was already here, she should understand the situation more so that she could adapt better later.
Chen Mu was caught off guard by that question. He didn’t react in time to explain the relationship that Master Bei and Miss Su had.
However, Tong Yi took his hesitation to mean that the two of them had an unspeakable relationship. “Okay, I understand,” she said.
Chen Mu was speechless when he heard her say that. He hadn’t even said anything, how and what did she understand?
Seeing the look on Tong Yi’s face, Chen Mu explained, “It’s not what you think. Master Bei and Miss Su have a long history together.”
“Then make it short.”
“Miss Su’s father, Su Kai, used to be Master Bei’s subordinate. In an accident, Su Kai was severely injured while trying to save Master Bei and he fell into a coma. He has still yet to awaken. After that incident, Master Bei took on the responsibility of taking care of Miss Su.” At this point, Chen Mu paused. There were some things that he could not say openly, so he chose to say no further.
Tong Yi continued Chen Mu’s words, “And then the two of them developed feelings over time?”
Chen Mu shook his head. “No, Master Bei only took care of Miss Su because she is Su Kai’s daughter.”
Tong Yi asked, “So it’s a one-sided love on Miss Su’s part?”
Chen Mu had only clarified that Lu Zhanbei didn’t like Miss Su, but he didn’t refute her when she suggested that Miss Su liked Lu Zhanbei.
Chen Mu’s mouth hung open, but nothing came out. Two seconds later, he said, “I didn’t say that. You said it.”
It seemed like she had guessed correctly. This woman called Miss Su liked Lu Zhanbei. Furthermore, she liked him in secret. It was so obvious that even Chen Mu could tell.
After understanding the situation, Tong Yi walked toward the private room. “Let’s go.”
Chen Mu quickly followed.
Tong Yi knocked on the door before pushing it open.
The woman in the room sat opposite Lu Zhanbei.
As the door suddenly flung open, the woman turned to look at her.
She had beautiful and exquisite facial features, and her makeup was light and elegant. Her wavy long hair flowed over her slender back, adding to her mature charm and elegance.
She wore a silver gown, white high heels, and a black trench coat.
This woman exuded an air of grandiose. She was the kind of beauty that would leave one stunned at first sight, but after looking at her for a long time, one would feel that she was just pretty, not stunningly beautiful.
Something flashed through the woman’s eyes when she saw Tong Yi. It happened so fast that Tong Yi did not notice it. In a split second, the woman smiled and asked, “You’re Tong Yi, right?”
Tong Yi was not surprised that this woman knew her. After all, the incident at the engagement party two days ago took the news world by storm.
Tong Yi nodded and walked in.
Chen Mu did not enter. He closed the door for them.
Su Shining glanced at the man opposite her. Seeing that the man said nothing to stop her, she got up and moved further inside to empty the space next to her on the long seat. Her meaning was obvious. She wanted Tong Yi to sit next to her.
The dining table was rectangular in shape. There was a long leather chair on each side, up to two people could sit next to each other on each seat. It could accommodate four people at once.
Tong Yi walked straight to Lu Zhanbei’s side and sat down.
