I’m the Main Character’s Child - Chapter 5
“Here you go!”
Seeing Cardin reach out to the the Eldora flower that I gave him without saying anything, I felt like I was slowly taming the fierce beast.
“Phew, it’s tiring.”
“……”
I glanced at Cardin and exaggeratedly wiped my sweat off and sat down on the sofa.
Because I bring flowers to Cardin everyday, I gained some leg muscles and excellent acting skills.
I already gave him flowers everyday for a week.
I’ve come to a position where I can take a rest in Cardin’s office casually.
To be honest, it was true that he always leaves me sitting here without saying anything.
In fact, I haven’t had much conversation with Cardin.
I came into Cardin’s office everyday, gave him flowers and took a short break everytime.
“Ahh…”
There was a wound on my hand because I plucked out the flower a while ago, it was a bit painful.
Now, it was time for me to leave his office.
“You don’t need to bring me this anymore.”
“Huh?”
I turned around and looked at Cardin. But Cardin said so while still looking at the documents.
What’s wrong with him all of a sudden?
“You don’t like flowers?”
“……yes, so stop bringing it. It’s useless.”
I thought about me waking up early and going into the garden to pick flowers for him everyday.
I became angry at him because he doesn’t praise me for my effort.
“Cardin, you idiot!”
Like when I first met Cardin, I couldn’t contain my anger and quickly ran away.
I go back into my room.
“He didn’t even thank me!”
I thought it over and over again. I decided I will continue my plans no matter what.
“You’ll see later, Cardin!!”
The next morning I really didn’t go to his office. I’ll let him feel the room’s emptiness without me.
Well actually, this is because when I had injured my hand, my nanny forced me not to go and treated my hand.
My nanny also knows that I went to his office these days.
She looked at my wound with a worried look on her face, she took care of me without saying anything.
“I’m going out. Nanny.”
I was about to go out after lunch.
“Princess, come with me.”
My nanny followed me out when I was about to leave.
“Yes, let’s go together!”
I left the room with my nanny, and smiled brightly on purpose.
“Nanny, I want to go there.”
When I arrived at Cardin’s office, I could see that Cardin wasn’t there, so I asked the servants. Turns out he was now in the field, so I hurriedly went there with my nanny.
I could see Cardin from far away, with several knights near him. I’ll forget about yesterday and approach Cardin with a bright smile.
“Cardin!”
I was able to see the nanny and the knights’ mouths open in astonishment, when I waved my hands and called his name.
Of course, Cardin was still expressionless.
“Cardin!”
I shouted his name loudly once again.
I kept smiling brightly and waved my hands energetically.
“Pr, princess…”
My nanny reached out to me if she was trying to stop me in a hurry, but I ran faster towards Cardin.
“Hi!”
I greeted Cardin and the knights I saw.
I laughed brightly as if I was just an innocent child.
“Who is this kid…”
“Look at her hair!”
“Oh…!”
The knights whispered to each other but unfortunately, their voice was loud enough for everyone to hear.
The knights looked at my hair in unison, and I could feel their eyes on my face now.
My light purple hair was inherited from Reina.
Sometimes I looked in the mirror and guessed that I would resemble Reina more when I grew up.
No matter how much I look in the mirror, I think the only similarity between me and Cardin was our blue eyes.
“What are you doing here? Cardin.”
“……”
Cardin’s eyebrow had been slightly raised at my question as if he was a bit annoyed at me.
I think I could guess why, but I purposely use Cardin’s name in every sentence.
Just because it’s fun seeing his reaction.
“If I greet you, you have to greet me back right? Cardin didn’t you know that?”
I could hear the knights next to Cardin holding their breath. But there Cardin still didn’t respond to my rude remark.
It hasn’t been long since I actually met Cardin, but I felt really comfortable with him.
Cardin’s eyes were always cold, but when I looked at him, I always felt something other than fear.
In fact, Cardin never responded much to what I was saying, but I knew he heard me.
“Princess!”
My nanny ran towards us and called me. Soon my nanny stand next to me.
“I greet Your Excellency.”
“……yes.”
Cardin didn’t accept my greeting, but he accepted my nanny’s greeting immediately. He’s annoying.
“Why isn’t my greeting accepted?”
I grumbled in annoyance.
“Oh my, Princess.”
My nanny looked very troubled as if she wanted to say something.
“Accept my greeting too!”
I shouted to Cardin again.
The surrounding became silent the moment I screamed.
Cardin didn’t say anything for a long time, but the more he did so, the more nervous the knights and nanny were.
“Who do you resemble…”
“Who do I resemble?”
I asked him back, but Cardin didn’t answer.
“It’s dangerous here, so take the child back inside.”
“Yes, sir.”
At Cardin’s command, my nanny held my hand and hurriedly got back into the mansion.
But if I go back like this, I wouldn’t be able to see Cardin again tomorrow.
I reach out my hand to Cardin who was staring at me and talk to him,
“Can’t you come with me?”
Cardin looked down at my hand for a moment.
My hand was wounded because of the Eldora flower yesterday, so my nanny put medicine on it and bandaged it.
Cardin looked up and called one of the knights.
“Elvin.”
“Yes.”
A knight with dark brown hair answered Cardin.
“I leave today’s training to you.”
“Alright.”
At the moment, the knight’s mood seems to be lifted up, but soon they quickly hid their expression again.
Contrary to the happy expressions of the knights, I was shocked because I heard a familiar name.
‘Elvin, his name is Elvin?’
I took a close look at the face of a knight called Elvin.
The man seems like the Elvin I was familiar with.
Elvin Pasto.
He was the head of the Vardion’s knights and the most trusted knight of Cardin.
Even though Cardin had a hard time trusting others, he trusted Elvin.
‘And he didn’t get the title as Vardion’s sword for nothing.’
In the book, Elvin was the knight that suffered all sorts of hardships with Cardin for his loyalty.
Even when he was often in danger because of him, he was smart enough to solve the problem himself.
So the other nobles despised him as the dog of Vardion, yet no one dared to disrespect him.
‘Meeting him was a very unexpected occurrence.’
Ever since I met Cardin, I had already thought that I could meet other characters in the novel too, but not this way.
“Hello. Princess, I’m Elvin Pasto, head of the knights.”
Perhaps because I kept looking at him absent-mindedly, Elvin noticed it and greeted me.
Other knights quickly greeted me with one of their knees on the ground.
“I greet the princess!”
“Hi……”
This is the first time in my life that I received many greetings at once, so I replied very awkwardly, not knowing how to react.
‘Should I tell them to get up?’
Cardin suddenly said,
“I’m going to the office.”
He said and quickly went away.
I looked at my nanny.
‘Is she coming with me?’
I could see my nanny’s eyes were slightly red.
She gently smiled at me and said,
“Be careful on the way, Princess.”
“Yes!”
I ran before Cardin disappeared completely.
I was able to catch up with Cardin quickly, my training was not useless.
Thankfully, Cardin walked slowly.
I approached Cardin and carefully looked at him.
He was still expressionless but I thought he accepted me slowly.
As I walked for a while, my legs slowly hurt.
I nearly fell because of that, so I looked for something to grab on.
I grab Cardin’s sleeve.
“……”
It was fortunate that Cardin didn’t say anything.
I squeezed Cardin’s sleeve a little harder.
Me and Cardin walked quietly in that condition.
***
We arrived at his office, I could see his sleeves crumpled, perhaps because I was holding on to his sleeve until now.
Cardin headed to his table without a word.
I spent the time laying down on the soft couch that I have grown accustomed to.
I turned my head to see him handling the documents again.
Knock, knock.
“Duke, I brought you tea.”
A servant came in pushing the tray.
The servant quickly went out, leaving the tea and bread on one side of the desk in his office.
At that moment I couldn’t stop gazing at the bread that the servant had brought.
