I Didn’t Save You To Get Proposed To - Chapter 36
He couldn’t even approach it easily because he expected Gvestin to close the exit. But as he got closer to the outside, he thought he’d push Elsia away and take his time with the dagger.
Even if he was seriously injured or died, his body would be trapped in the monster’s cave, leaving no trace.
But at the very least, she’ll be able to escape safely. “Prince!” shouts Elsia, who was being dragged from behind. “My hand hurts! Hold on!” Ixion let go reflexively in an uncharacteristic shrill scream.
It was at this point that I decided to deal with Gvestin. Suddenly, a calm Elsia spoke up, changing her tone.
“I don’t think we can do it this way.”
He couldn’t stop right away because of the momentum he was running with and the downhill terrain. Elsia also tried her hardest to push him on the back.
“Prince, get out of here!”
“Elsia! What are you talking about—”
With the addition of pushing force from behind, Ixion is pushed out as if falling.
“Prince!”
“Prince, here you are!”
When he came out almost rolling, all the knights waiting at the entrance of the cave gathered.
“Elsia!”
However, he did not even realize that he had come out in the sunlight, and ran to the entrance of the cave where he had come from.
“Prince!” However, the cave had already closed its doors to the detriment of the world. He slammed his body against the closed stone wall, but there was no sound coming from inside.
“Prince! What exactly happened to you?”
Help him off the stone wall, the knights asked. They were searching for the Marquis on Mela’s orders when they noticed Isith standing in front of a cave and waited for him.
“That is Gvestin’s habitat.” Ixion said coldly and breathing hard. His face, which was quite different from when he looked at Elsia, was cold without any warmth. “I made eye contact and went inside. How long have we been missing?”
“Four and a half days. Are you all right?”
“And what happened to Lady Elsia?”
“Elsia is—” Ixion murmured, his head numbing.
Elsia’s warmth seemed to be lingering in his hands. How on earth is he going to live if she lets him go like this—?
“…She’s inside. I lost her hand just before I came out.”
“Ah.”
The Knights sighed. She would have been beaten by Gvestin if she hadn’t been able to come out with Ixion now. Otherwise, she would have gone out with Ixion right now.
Even if he were still alive, he couldn’t save the person in a special Gvestin nest. Elsia was a lady who, at first glance, had no idea what martial arts were. The only thing that sets her apart from the rest is her ability to use divine magic, which was the most useless skill in the devil’s cave.
Even the Knights might struggle to survive if they enter Gvestin’s nest, which is home to a swarm of small monsters.
Their aggression, no matter how minor, was not to be taken lightly.
Most importantly, how did he get to a location that he couldn’t find or enter? Gvestin had to have already turned the entrance into another passage.
“The Marquis— H-how do we say it?”
“What?”
“The Lady— Ugh— That she’s died—”
“What the hell are you on about?” Ixion stated coldly. “I look for it no matter what. Elsia is not going to die.”
The Knights who surrounded him just stared at each other, not responding to his master’s irrational remarks. His blue eyes sparkled with life because he was like a mad man. All he could think about was Aiden’s absence looking elsewhere.
Because he is the only one who can provide realistic feedback to Ixion, who is depressed.
“Did you happen to find my sword?”
“Yes, in the bodies of the monsters—”
“Give it to me,” Ixion paused for a moment after receiving the sword.
‘I don’t think the monsters are attacking me.’
He didn’t want to believe it at all. He didn’t question her further, however, because he was afraid she would be forced to tell him the secret she wanted to keep because of his authority.
Because of Artise’s blood, she could use black magic, and even if she wasn’t attacked by monsters, he didn’t want her to feel embarrassed in front of the empire. He didn’t want her to be discouraged by those guilty expressions.
It didn’t matter what kind of person Elsia was, but she did want to live a life free of evil powers like black magic.
He didn’t know much about black magic, but he knew that the fates of those who were involved with it weren’t good. He didn’t tell anyone about Artise’s royal family’s ability to use black magic, which Elsia had revealed to him.
Because if this was known, it would be bad for her.
The tower will be sought after as a research object, and the imperial family and the people of the empire will want to kill her as soon as possible to avoid the aftereffects.
But for now he had no choice but to hope for a connection between the evil monster and the black magic.
‘Elsia, please, just don’t die. Black magic or whatever. If you need a price, I’ll give myself away.’
He was more depressed than he had ever been. He had been living his life unaware of the ups and downs of emotions until now. Nothing stood out as particularly good or bad.
As a result, he may have been able to force himself into an extreme situation such as a war zone.
However, after meeting Elsia, he noticed that his emotions went up and down several times per day. When he saw her with Niel, he became upset, found it strangely unfair, and hated it for no apparent reason. Nonetheless, he was always curious and foolishly hung around to see the sparkling red eyes.
He kept going back and forth when he was talking to her.
She is the type of person who makes his emotions run wild just by being in his presence, but when she disappeared from his sight, he felt as if he was going insane.
‘Because I’ll never give up, no, I can’t give up, so Elsia— Please don’t die.’
He clenched the sword tightly.
*******
“H-hey—”
I tapped Gvestin’s body carefully.
“Why don’t you step aside?”
Gvestin completely blocked the entrance and remained motionless with his eyes closed. This large dog-like devil did not attack me, but he refused to listen to me.
‘Well, there’s no way I’m going to be able to communicate with the evil monsters.’
When they saw a large number of knights, they appeared to have given up on pursuing Ixion. I remembered the little monsters that I frequently see in this cave.
Maybe Gvestin thinks I’m the same as them.
“A-aren’t you going to step aside?”
With a sigh, I realized that if I had known this would be the case, I would have studied some monsters, which I deeply regretted. I didn’t know anything about the monsters’ habits or names. However, it was frustrating that no light could enter because Gvestin had blocked the entrance.
As I looked around, I noticed that the inside of the cave was quite bright, so I went there. Anyway, that guy didn’t seem to want to move for a while, so I decided to sit in the cave’s brightest spot and ponder what would happen.
First, I didn’t believe it was right for both of us to die, so I pushed Ixion and left myself behind—
‘Will I become a true monster here if I can’t continue to use divine magic like this? I couldn’t have imagined the fate of the 13,092 monsters who lived in Gvestin’s nest.’
It was fortunate that I wasn’t hungry and couldn’t even sleep because it was a magic space.
“Mwaa?”
That’s when I noticed a small, hedge-like devil in front of me. It was a round monster with white thorns about the size of my palm. I couldn’t figure it out, but the way he looked at me with blue eyes wasn’t repugnant.
“Oh, good for you!”
With my left hand, I stroked the hedgehog-like devil. The hand that had been stabbed by the thorn was bleeding.
‘If I can’t heal someone who has been hurt by monsters, why not heal myself when I get hurt?’
While the bleeding hand was being healed, the little devil stared at me and moved to the side.
“Huh?” I opened my eyes and blinked. “Do it again?”
‘There’s nothing wrong with it. Divine magic is everything.’
In an instant, I made a plan.
‘It’s like the existence of treasury pots!’
With this child, I can continue to use divine magic, and then I’ll be able to go outside in good condition if Gvestin moves aside.
“Mwa!”
“Yes, shall we do it? There’s nothing I can do for you but—”
I feel better because there is a creature next to me, even if it is a monster. It was supposed to be an unnamed or natural relationship, but I decided to give him a name. I stroked the hedgehog-looking guy again and self-healed the wounds while pondering the name.
“However, names should be intuitive. Let’s call it white for now.”
I untied the blue ribbon that was tying my hair and wrapped it around the waist of the white child. It was a monster who didn’t know when it was going to leave, but it would be nice to find out later in this cave.
“White. What kind of monster do you think you are?”
The more I looked at him, the more adorable he became. It was like a different creature than Ziebel or Gvestin. This little devil doesn’t even come to the human world to begin with.
If I were to become a monster, I thought it would be nice to be a small monster that didn’t hurt anyone.
Rebecca, the Lord of Wizard Tower, had never explicitly stated that I would become a specific type of monster, so it wasn’t as if there was no possibility at all. I figured if I made it out alive, I’d learn everything I could about this monster.
‘There’s a lot to do out there.’
I thought blankly.
Learning to ride a horse, buying a horse, practicing swordsmanship, and researching monsters—.
Still, I wanted to live a good life as a human being.
